Tip Tuesday: Hot Weather Blow Drying

*Don’t trap yourself in a teeny tiny bathroom with no air. Your blow out will take forever. Open doors & get air circulating
*Do your best to blow dry during the cooler part of the day– early morning, or late at night.
*Half way through your blow out, turn on the cold air setting and cool everything down. This will lower the temperature of your scalp and helps avoid trapping heat+ moisture near your scalp (which is what makes your hair frizz right back up)!
*If your hair always tends to frizz up after blow drying, coil it in a low, tight bun and let it set while you finish getting ready. Right before you head out, let the bun down + put a small amount of anti-frizz serum or argan oil through the ends.
*The key to blow drying on a hot day is getting it done quickly. You just want to hurry up and get it over with! If you have straight or wavy hair, keep brushing your hair with a flat/paddle brush while you’re blow drying. Water gets trapped between the hairs which is what keeps it wet. The quicker you separate the hairs and get air between them, the faster your hair will dry.
*My last blow drying tip:  always finish your summer time blow drying by using cold air for a full 2 minutes. It will make a huge difference.

Get Fit: Home Lunches

My mom came across these lunch boxes a couple weeks ago. The only thing I don't like is I wish the lunch box had a cute print on it.
When you buy a lunch box for $8 they come with 4 containers that fit inside the boxes. I have been using it this week & the only thing I've found is that liquids leak out of it, so everything needs to be solid.
Go to the link at the top of the post to find healthy lunch ideas.

Tip Tuesday: Beware the Water!

Something about a good hot shower makes me feel clean & ready for bed! {I take my showers at night}
Be careful though. Using hot water adds to heat damage, the same damage given to your hair by your heat tools. Really hot showers can lead to dandruff..which isn't fun! Hot water also opens the culicle of your hair. The more your cuticle is open, the more color slips out of your hair. In other words, hot water leads to faded hair. So turn the temperature of your water down a little {or a lot} when shampooing & conditioning.
Hot water on the rest of your body in healthy though. It opens pores & helps clear your face.

Tip Tuesday: Hair Loss

I have never had to deal with this problem but a lot of people do. These are reasons why you might loose hair & how to fix it!!! 1
photo: www.picssy.com
Lack of Nutrition: When your body doesn't get the vitamins & minerals you need. You can start to loose hair. If your hair is brittle for no reason. This is usually a good answer. You can use the best shampoos, no dyeing or color & air drying & your hair will still be brittle. This is when multi-vitamins,  fish oil capsules & other vitamins can come in handy. Go to your local health store to find out what vitamins will help your hair.

Pregnancy: Most people loose hair in their pregnancies Not all, but most. Usually 3-6 months after the baby is born. Typically around the hair line & nape of the neck.  There is nothing you can do to stop it. The hormonal changes that happen from the time your pregnant to the months after the baby arrives are so strong that nothing will stop it. No diet, vitamins, or relaxation is going to stop this natural process. So.... Get Bangs!!

There are many other reasons but I think that these two & also stress are the most common.

Short term fixes:
Extensions: On weak hair you never want tape in or bonded extensions. Get clip in ones. That way you can remove them when you get home & let your hair rest. This will make your hair look more full & healthy.
Massage: Use a Scalp Massager. {HERE} Brushing weak hair isn't a good idea. So instead stimulize the scalp by massage. If you can't get a hold on one then just massage with your fingers.
Vitamins: You can use different vitamins to help your hair grow. I use fish oil & Alaskan  salmon oil capsules.

If things continue to get worse, talk to your doctor to see what medical advice, therapy & treatments will help your hair loss.

Water Marble Nails

This is one of those tutorials that I can do on my self but not on video. I decided this would be tons easier!!!
1. Glass of lukewarm water.
2. Drop your favorite nail polishes in to the water.
3. make a design by pulling on the polish.
4. Dip your finger in & gently pull out.
5. Clean all of the excess polish off your fingers.

Tip Tuesday: Curl Them Lashes!

Do you want your lashes to be more full & have more volume?
Use an eyelash curler!!
Do you want the curl to stay all day???

photo: http://rainbowcinnamon.tumblr.com
This is a trick I learned from http://www.eyeslipsface.com.
Take your blow-dryer and blast some hot air on your eye-lash curler for 20 seconds. Let cool for 1 minute. Test with your fingers to make sure you don't burn your eyelids. Curl your lashes as normal & repeat the process to the other side!
Happy Tuesday,
Lexie

Little White Lines

White eyeliner is becoming a very big trend. I think I might be doing a tutorial on this soon. I love both looks. There's the bold & the more natural look.
White eyeliner makes your eyes look whiter, bigger & highlights your face.
It's amazing what little white lines can do.

Tip Tuesday: Don't Toss Nozzles!!!

How many blow dryers have you bought?
How many times have you tossed the nozzles?

PHOTO: KRISTIN ESS + THEBEAUTYDEPARTMENT.COM
The nozzles that come with your blow dryers {believe it or not} are important.
When you blow dry your hair the attachments like the one in the picture direct the cuticle of your hair down. This gives your hair a smoother effect. It is also healthier. Especially if you blow dry every day..or every day you shower.

Last Minute Shave?

EOS Shave Cream
You know those times when you wake up & you missed a hole row of shaving on you legs? This is where this product comes in, you just put it on to your skin & shave away. It smells good but is very thick so..a lot goes a long way.

Your Opinion: Ombre Root or Soft Ombre?

Personally I hate the root look & I think that the soft ombre effect looks less tacky. What do you think? Comment below or email me!!!

Drink your Water!!!

Photo: http://www.ignant.de

Water is so good for your health, skin & your hair.
I challenge all of you to drink more water through out your day!

Tip Tuesday: Sun Bun

For all you sun bunnies! Before you layout in the sun {drench your self with sun screen} & also shampoo your hair. Brush through your hair & don't rinse out your shampoo. Add conditioner to the ends of your hair & pull your hair in a tight bun. Layout, {don't swim} & then come home to shower. Your hair will be soft because the conditioner will have "melted" into your hair.
Happy Tanning!

Fair??

photo: michael thompson/w magazine

For those who feel like you have "Edward Cullen" skin, don't fret. Drama Pale skin is the perfect canvas for make-up. Your red lips & smokey eyes have more contrast than the rest of us. Own your skin, & protect it with 100 SPF sun block.
